Kindergarten:
Creative Expression: Patterns (Printing, Pattern on Shape); Shapes; Lines (Horizontal, vertical and diagonal.
Criticism & Aesthetics: Self-Critique (Choose item for art show, Identify likes & dislikes).
Cultural Heritage: Native American Cultural Awareness
Responsibilities and Routine: Follow directions; Classroom Safety; Work ethic; Making appropriate choices; Proper care and use of material.
First Grade:
Creative Expression: Color; Line Quality; Texture.
Criticism & Aesthetics: Self-Critique (Choose item for art show); Group Critique.
Cultural Heritage: Asian Art; Impressionist Era Artists
Responsibilities and Routine: Follow directions; Classroom safety; Work ethic; Making appropriate choices; Proper care and use of material; Participate in Group Critique.
Second Grade:
Creative Expression: Value (Light and Dark); Form (Introduce 2D vs. 3D)
Criticism & Aesthetics: Self-critique; Compare & Contrast; Audience awareness.
Cultural Heritage: Historical Awareness (compare our culture with a different culture); Maine Artists; Australia/Oceanic

Third Grade:
Creative Expression: Warm/Cool Colors; Space; Elements of Design (Texture, Color, Line, Shape, Form, Value, Space).
Criticism & Aesthetics: Self-critique (choose and item for the art show); Compare & Contrast (Positive/Negative space, Begin to justify likes and dislikes, Justification of media choices, Introduce point of view).
Cultural Heritage: Middle Eastern Art; Egyptian Art; African Art.
Responsibilities and Routine: Follow directions; Classroom Safety; Work ethic; Making appropriate choices; Proper care and use of material.
Assessment: Describe a favorite piece of art emphasizing at least one element of design. Create an artwork emphasizing at least one element of design.
Fourth Grade:
Creative Expression: Space (Scale, Size); Elements of Design (Apply elements of design); Introduce one-point perspective; Balance (Symmetry & Asymmetry).
Criticism & Aesthetics: Self-critique (choose and item for the art show); Use art as communication; Audience Awareness (media, evaluating influence of media; art as a means of persuasion).
Cultural Heritage: American Landscape/Maritime Art; African American Art.
